Inertial system refers to the system in which the body remains at rest or in motion unless any external force acts on it. Inertial measuring units consists of motion sensing devices and micro fabricated sensors such as accelerometer that senses gravity or force, a gyroscope that measures angular velocity, and magnetometers, that acts as a compass. All MEMS accelerometer sensors measures the displacements of a mass with the use of position measuring interface circuit. This measurement is converted into digital signal through ADC (analog to digital converter) for digital processing. However, gyroscopes measure both displacement of frame and its resonating mass due to Coriolis acceleration.
