ArteAmare. The art exhibition accessible from home
At the Castle of San Terenzo di Lerici, the exhibition of art photographs by Paolo Grassi "ArteAmare" is now accessible to the disabled thanks to the publication of a Virtual Tour on Google StreetView. The artist Paolo Grassi shows a particular sensitivity for those who, for different reasons, are unable to physically visit his photo exhibition "ArteAmare", at the castle of San Terenzo di Lerici, open until August 19th.
"The beauty of art is universal and democratic and as such it must be accessible to everyone - Grassi tells us -" even to those who can not move from their home. I think of disabled people who are often excluded a priori from the opportunity to enjoy historical places, to live artistic experiences because of the architectural barriers present. And if people can not go to the castle to visit the show, I thought about bringing the Castle and my photographs to their home. "
The idea was realized with the creation of a 360 ° virtual tour published in Google Street View that from the Piazza Brusacà of San Terenzo di Lerici, goes through the alleys that lead to the entrance of the Castle, step up the steps up to the splendid internal square from which you can enjoy the view of the Gulf of Poets, until you get to the interior rooms and the tower where the exhibition is set up.
It is a tour that can be viewed with any smartphone, using the same procedure used to search for places and itineraries in Google Maps, but which becomes an immersive and multi-sensorial experience when viewed with a Virtual Reality viewer.
The operation carried out by Paolo Grassi in collaboration with Rita Manzoni is in line with the principle of Audience Engagement defined by the European Union as a "strategic, dynamic and interactive process to make the arts more accessible. Specifically, the AE aims to involve individuals and communities in moments linked to the cultural world, also through experiences ... of artistic co-creation and use of new technologies "(European Commission, 2012).
The virtual dimension is present in the exhibition of Paolo Grassi also with the processing in Augmented Reality of about half of the exhibited works, created with the free application HP Reveal, compatible with all smartphones and Iphone and easily downloadable, which also works as home. Simply frame one of Paolo Grassi's augmented photographs or the exhibition catalog or the lephotoart.com website to discover the video, audio or photographic processing of it.
Once again Paolo Grassi, with his art photographs printed manually with a reinterpretation of the technique of the resinotipia of the early '900, proves capable of recovering the past looking to the future.
