Total Education Solutions Offers Low Cost Developmental Screenings

South Pasadena, CA, June 28, 2010— Total Education Solutions (TES) is offering low cost, professional screenings at all of their office locations to identify children—specifically preschoolers—with developmental delays, leading to early intervention.

TES, a leading provider of special education services, is offering $25 screenings in speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy for children whose parents are concerned about their development. These concerns might include a two-year-old child whose speech is hard to understand or a child who does not walk independently by 16 months.

Speech and Language screenings will assess various areas of speech, including articulation, speech intelligibility, voice quality, and fluency. The Occupational Therapy screening includes a brief assessment of a child’s self-care skills, pre-writing and fine motor abilities, visual perceptual skills, and sensory processing abilities as it relates to behavior, attention, movement, and task completion. The Physical Therapy screening will consist of a brief assessment of range of motion, muscle strength, balance, coordination, etc., and the ability to perform functional tasks.

Each developmental screening takes 30 minutes. After completion, parents will receive written results describing their child’s performance and notification whether he/she performed within normal limits or if further evaluation and subsequently treatment is warranted.

These treatments, known as early intervention services, provide these children with the opportunity to catch-up to their peers and more readily achieve age-appropriate skills.
