Halo Monitoring Announces Winners in First Halo Hero Search
Huntsville, AL- Loving sons and daughters who selflessly care for their parents as well as nieces and nephews caring for an elderly aunt are a few of the winners in the first Halo Hero contest, an online event sponsored by Halo Monitoring, maker of the most advanced fall detection system. The myHalo medical alarm provides safety and wellness for seniors who live alone by assuring help is immediately summoned in the event of a fall without needing to push a button. The Halo Hero contest is a tribute to the “Hero Caregiver” who deserves a myHalo to help care for their loved one, or a “Hero Senior” who deserves a myHalo to preserve their independence.“We have read many heartwarming stories submitted during our six week contest and we are pleased myHalo will help so many families,” says Chris Otto, CEO of Halo Monitoring. “We created the Halo Hero contest so our leading age-in-place technology could help the heroes who sacrifice daily to provide care for their loved ones and the seniors who strive to remain independent. We owe those heroes a big ‘thank you.’”
Six caregivers and 12 seniors, from households stretching from California to New York, will receive a myHalo complete system with one year of monitoring. Some of the winners include:
• Karen, Kendall Park, NJ- Karen’s aunt has fallen several times and can’t always get to a phone to call for help. While Karen and other family members frequently check on her, Karen believes the myHalo system would allow her aunt to continue to live independently while still being able to get help if needed.
• Diana, Huntsville, AL -Diana’s mother Carol suffers from a medical condition that causes frequent bouts of dizziness. Because her mother is in constant danger of falling, Diana felt a myHalo system would provide additional peace of mind to her mother and her family.
• Karen, Lynnwood, WA- Karen was nominated by her son who is her primary caregiver. Karen lives alone, and after a previous fall sent her to the hospital, Karen’s three children began discussing the need for a medical alarm that automatically calls for help.
• Brenda, Aston, PA- Brenda was nominated by her best friend Debbie. Brenda moved in with her mother and has been taking care of her for the past five years. Brenda hasn’t taken a vacation or been away for more than a few hours at a time. Debbie believes a myHalo system would provide Brenda a chance to get away for longer periods while still being assured help will be automatically called if needed.
The myHalo complete medical alarm utilizes a small, comfortable, wireless device worn by a senior and monitors a user’s health, physical activity and much more. myHalo sends an automatic alert - no need to push a button - in the event of a fall. Emergency medical response teams, caregivers, and the individual’s family are all contacted. myHalo is also the first system of its kind to use a secure web site to allow family members or designated caregivers the ability to “look-in” on a loved one’s situation 24/7, from anywhere, without invading a senior’s privacy.
“We honor the love and compassion caregivers provide and we admire seniors for their desire to maintain their independence,” adds Otto. “Halo Monitoring is here to help balance family, work and caring for a senior loved one.”
