Stevens-Henager College Ogden - West Haven ADN Program Gains NLNAC Accreditation

Ogden, Utah, Feb 18, 2011 - The Associate’s degree in Nursing program offered at Stevens-Henager College Ogden-West Haven campus received accreditation from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).

The Atlanta, GA-based commission is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a specialized accrediting agency for all types of post-secondary and higher degree nursing education programs. It must be noted that the NLNAC accreditation is a specialized accreditation specifically for the Associate’s degree in Nursing program and is different from the accreditation of Stevens-Henager College by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). Some fields such as nursing require accreditation from specialized or professional accreditors because of the specialized nature of the education involved.

The commission has a pre-defined set of standards and criteria for granting accreditation, evaluating the quality of education for different nursing education programs. Before granting accreditation, the commission also considers how well the program trains students for a career in nursing.

The Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) program offered by Stevens-Henager College is a 26- month program, providing an ideal platform for aspiring RNs to build their careers. The program curriculum covers courses on four topics which are sought after by most students: gerontological nursing, pediatric nursing, medical-surgical nursing, and critical care nursing.

This stamp of approval by NLNAC for the Associate’s degree in Nursing should instill confidence amongst applicants about the program, which has been found to satisfactorily meet the quality standards and purpose it was established for by a credible and professional third-party entity.
