Labour Government Attracted Record Numbers of foreign Immigration to UK: MigrationWatch Report
MigrationWatch UK is an independent think tank. Their purpose is to monitor developments, conduct research, and provide the public with full and accurate facts placed in their proper context. It has compiled the figures of Labour government party for welcoming immigration to the UK during its 13 years in power.
Labour immigration speaker, Gerry Sutcliffe has already stated that the report is “misleading and highly political”.
He also added that migration levels had increased “because of the strength of the British economy over many years”.
MigrationWatch Chairman, Andrew Green complained that foreign immigration is “changing Britain fundamentally and irrevocably”.
UK immigration minister Damian Green joined the discussion, arguing that Labour’s government policies “placed unacceptable pressure on our public services over the years”.
He added: “That is why we are currently carrying out major reform of the system to reduce net migration to the tens of thousands… We have already introduced an annual limit to the number of economic visas from outside the UK alongside new proposals to reform other routes of entry including student, marriage and settlement visas, which have in the past been subject to widespread abuse.”
At present, Damian Green is putting the finishing touches on a permanent cap on UK visa, set to be imposed in April this year.
