Southwest Schools Offer Training in Cosmetology

Southwest Schools provides flexible and innovative training in Cosmetology, a field that is expected to show strong growth, even in a weak economy.

The college offers cosmetology classes at several of its campuses: San Antonio Commercial; San Antonio San Pedro; Del Rio; Eagle Pass; Uvalde; Austin North and Austin South. After completing this program, students are eligible to take the TDLR examination for certification as a Cosmetologist and be qualified in hair design, skin care, nail-care, hair weaving and braiding.

The school’s Cosmetology Operator program provides students with the training required for them to pass the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) Examination for certification. Courses provide instruction in the theoretical knowledge in cosmetology, as well as the business basics of running a salon.

A hallmark of Southwest School’s cosmetology program is a high percent passing rate on the TDLR certification exam, with many of the students passing the exam the first time they take it. Students get an opportunity to work with professional products such as Wella, Sebastian, Pevonia, Glo therapeutics, Glo Minerals and OPI in an upscale spa environment during the program.

Cosmetology instructors are industry professionals, providing hands-on experience along with theoretical knowledge of their art. Additionally, the SWS group of schools operates full-service campus salons that are open to the public, where cosmetology students provide a variety of beauty services such as haircuts, hair color, facials and manicures, pedicures etc. to clients under the supervision of their instructors.
