Math Concentration's Video Tutorial Contest
All contestants will be recognized for their participation. In order to participate in this competition, teachers must register at the website and upload their video(s). The video with the most like’s wins. McDowell says, “More students are connecting online to find free and low-cost resources to help them with their math homework. All videos submitted will be used for this purpose.” As a teacher, McDowell says " I feel compelled to contribute to the abundance of resources being added to the web with the hopes I can make a difference in the life of a child." Student achievement in mathematics is declining. According to the OECD, between 2003 and 2006, American students declined by nine points in their PISA mathematics performance scores, which made the United States rank thirty-fourth out of thirty nine countries in that category.
