CoSoSys Becomes Independent Software Vendor after Management

CoSoSys’ management has bought out the company from Astaro / Sophos, which will carry on as an independent developer and innovator of device control, endpoint security and portable device management software for Windows and Mac

Cluj-Napoca, Romania, 21 July 2011. CoSoSys’ founder and management have acquired all shares in the endpoint security, data loss prevention and portable device security software company from unified threat management vendor Astaro / Sophos. CoSoSys Founder and CEO, Roman Foeckl, together with Senior VP, Michael Bauner, have bought out the Cluj-based security company.

As of July 1st, 2011, CoSoSys has spun-off from Astaro and will continue as a leading independent developer of device control, endpoint security, data loss prevention and portable device enhancement solutions under the leadership of Roman Foeckl, who has been the company’s CEO since its beginning in 2004.

“We, the team at CoSoSys, have seen great momentum in our business development and product innovation that we believe has its highest potential as an independent company. We are thankful for the opportunity and the support from Astaro and Sophos in this partnership and buyout,” said Roman Foeckl, CoSoSys Founder and CEO. “We are happy to have had the opportunity to work side by side with one of the most dedicated and skilled teams of network security professionals in the world.”

“At Astaro we strongly believe in the CoSoSys business model and management for which reason we have acquired the company less than a year ago. We now support its decision to operate as an independent software business again to pursue its strong growth and innovative drive. We expect to see great new security solutions coming from them in the near future,” said Jan Hichert, co-founder and former CEO of Astaro and now Sophos' senior vice president and general manager of network security.

CoSoSys has a history of strong growth since its foundation in 2004 and evolved from a small developer of software for portable device enhancement to being an innovator in the endpoint security business that offers solutions to the latest security needs for Windows and Mac OS operating systems for businesses of all sizes, and home users.

“Our customers, distribution and channel partners can expect exciting new product releases and an innovative roadmap from us,” added Michael Bauner, CoSoSys Senior VP. “CoSoSys’ software and hardware solutions are a security must for all companies looking to protect their business networks based on either Windows of Mac OS X platforms from the ever increasing threats of today’s fast-paced and highly mobile business processes.”

CoSoSys’ most popular data loss prevention and endpoint security solutions are Endpoint Protector, a product created to minimize internal threats, reduce data leakage risks and control devices connected at endpoints, the cloud computing device control and network security software, My Endpoint Protector, and the latest introduced Endpoint Protector Hardware Appliance. CoSoSys’ products and technologies are currently being used by more than 20 million users and portable devices worldwide.
