The quarry in St. Margarethen is one of Europes most beautiful and astonishing open air arenas and it is also the breathtaking scenery for the yearly opera festival in one of Austrias most beautiful regions. The fusion between art and nature creates an incredible ambiance. This year for the very first time it is the stage for W.A. Mozart’s opera „Don Giovanni“. In order to cope with this extraordinary setting the production staff didn’t spare any efforts or costs: the DVD „Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Don Giovanni – Live from the quarry St. Margarethen“ is technically the most complex production St. Margarethen has ever seen. The premiere on the 19th of July was recorded with 6 cameras, of course in Full HD; and one additional remote-controlled orchestra camera, that offers a totally new perspective to the audience. Subtitles are available in English and Italian language. This DVD doesn’t just show an opera recorded for TV, it has captured the full beauty and drama of an important chapter of Austrian culture.
