Stevens-Henager College Rolls Out Its Bachelor of Science in Graphic Arts with Information Design Emphasis
Salt Lake City, Utah, Nov. 07, 2011 - Stevens-Henager College’s Bachelor of Science in Graphic Arts degree has evolved: students can now choose to take the Bachelor of Science in Graphic Arts with an Information Design emphasis.Information design refers to the visual representation of information in an effective, efficient, and easy-to-use manner. Although this discipline is a subset of graphic design, information design may involve the use of written instructions in addition to sketches and drawings to communicate a message or an idea. Consequently, information designers must have proficiencies in high-level attention, attraction, and retention.
The graphic arts program at Stevens-Henager College aims to provide graduates with this expertise, along with the usual competencies in graphic design. The curriculum is structured around courses such as Technical Communication, Information Design, Package Design, Logo and Identity Design, and Advertising Design.
In addition to the above topics, students also take courses in Photoshop, Illustrator, Typography, Web Design, and other subjects that are included in a comprehensive graphic arts degree.
Graduates of the program may pursue entry-level positions as graphic designers, production artists, or art directors in a variety of industries such as publishing, print media, electronic media, advertising, and films. The Information Design emphasis may also qualify them for junior- to middle-level roles in technical design, documentation management, web content, mobile content, and other emerging industries.
Candidates interested in this degree must have a high school diploma or an equivalent GED® credential. They may schedule a personal visit at any SHC campus of their choice to learn more about the program, and the financial aid planning and career services that are available at no cost to all students in this program.
This graphic arts degree is available at the Salt Lake City/Murray and Provo/Orem campuses of Stevens-Henager College as well as its satellite location at Lehi. Students also have the option of pursuing this program fully online.
