STEM is FEM Module “Mechanical Engineering” to take place in Kyiv
According to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, only 13,2% of alumni with the degree in mechanical engineering are girls. That is why Stem is Fem educational initiative has chosen mechanical engineering to be the topic of the upcoming module.For more information about the project, please, visit:

The mechanical engineering topic is of particular importance in Ukrainian realities. Since mechanical engineering is considered the most critical integrated sector of the Ukrainian processing industry, that counts for more than 1000 facilities. The increase of the number of women, employed therein, could result in the quantitative and qualitative increase of the staff capacity in the sector on the whole. Since in terms of the staff composition, the sector is still predominantly a male one. The same tendency has been in the world as well. The highest number of women, employed in mechanical engineering, is found in Canada - 21.8%. That said, the CNBC portal has included the sector to top 20 most promising ones for developing a STEM career by women.
Gamingtec launched Stem is Fem project to support high school girls that are interested in studying technical sciences and plan to get themselves into technical fields. The project brings together female experts and successful companies willing to share experience and knowledge with the participants of the module. “Mechanical Engineering” Module is supported by BMW company and motivational speakers that represent the United Nations and The British Embassy in Kyiv.
Women, already employed in the engineering field, will be introduced to the participants of the module. Girls will be provided with interesting educational lectures, motivational speeches by successful women, topical excursions and the traditional contest.
Schoolgirls from 13 small and big towns all over Ukraine took part in the selection contest. Those of them who have best coped with the assignment, received invitations to the educational module without having to pay for the transport and accommodation. The Module is scheduled on 29-30 August in Kyiv.
