Digital Trade Fair Receives Positive Evaluation

Participation in the ‘R+T digital’ was a clear success for markilux

In February markilux presented its product innovations for 2021 at the four-day ‘R+T digital’ Trade Fair. The company was able to draw a positive balance with regard to the fair. Interest for the new products and innovations proved to be large and it was very professionally organised. Nevertheless, one is still looking forward to the next ‘Physical R+T’ and to enjoying personal contact with the visitors. For the awning manufacturer, it was the first time it had taken part in a trade fair in digital format.

‘To start with, we would like to shower praise on the fair corporation and all the other organisers who were able to actually make the 'R+T digital' happen. Everything went without a hitch and we felt really well looked after. The ‘Innovation Day’ and the ‘Gastronomy Day’ were very professionally organised’, Klaus Wuchner, Director of Sales and Marketing at markilux, says. At the end of February, the awning specialist presented its innovations for the 2021 season at the four-day trade fair. The aim, to pass on information about the current products to the specialist dealers and the media, was in any case a success.

The communication aim was achieved

For Christiane Berning, Head of the Marketing and Business Development Department, taking part in the fair was also a success: ‘It was the first time we had ever taken part in a digital event like this. So we were really able to learn a lot over the course of the 'R+T digital'. All in all participation was very profitable for us’, she emphasises. The new products received a lot of positive feedback. Above all the ‘pergola stretch’. Moreover, during the fair the awning was awarded the Gold Medal for Innovation. With new drive technology and boasting XXL dimensions, the product was one of the topics most discussed at the fair. The inspired-by-art ‘smart art’ patterns were also well received by the professional public. A good number of visitors have downloaded information about the innovations. ‘There has been a lot of appreciative feedback with regard to this offer. And to our fair stand, too, naturally’, Ms Berning is pleased to add. It was possible to communicate the product topics to the end consumer as planned. Another advantage, too, is that the visitor is able to use his or her access code to view the fair information for a whole year up unto the ‘R+T 2022.

A large number of visitors to the fair stand

Only the offer to chat was not used as enthusiastically as we would have liked. It is in this respect, according to markilux, that the online format does differ markedly from that of an ‘analogue’ fair. The communication technology by means of avatars on the fair stand had been prepared superbly, according to Klaus Wuchner together with a complete contact management team behind the scenes. ‘Holding a conversation via a keyboard did perhaps form a barrier for some, however. But, nevertheless, we still had more than enough ‘traffic’ on our stand every day. Having said that, the first day, naturally, was the busiest’, he explains. markilux was able to present itself at the ‘R+T digital’ as we had hoped and was able to extract maximum benefit from the digital format. However, this format was not able to replace the personal contact and one-to-one discussions with our specialist dealers. For this reason, we are already looking forward to the next ‘live’ fair.
