Training Centres Succeed Despite Coronavirus Pandemic
In March 2020, life as we knew it was turned upside down by the arrival of COVID-19. Everything from the world of work to the way we shopped and socialised was completely flipped on its head.As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, thousands of businesses across the country were forced to shut their doors for extended periods. Many workers were furloughed or made redundant. But some decided to see this as an opportunity for a career change; tradespeople were recognised as ‘key workers’ throughout the pandemic and permitted to continue working even under the strictest lockdown rules, so a career in the trades suddenly looked very appealing to those seeking greater job security.
Despite the restrictions that have been place at various times over the past year or so, UK training providers Access Training Academies have been able to meet the demand for trade courses and help countless individuals to pursue rewarding new careers. In 2020, the company began offering online classes as well as adapting their existing classroom-based training methods to comply with key COVID-19 safety regulations. This ‘blended learning’ approach meant that Access Training were able to continue providing first-class training throughout the pandemic.
IMPROVING ONLINE CAPABILITIES
When traditional classroom-based teaching became less viable, Access Training decided to start offering online teaching through a bespoke web platform called Access Training Online. This allowed new and existing students to learn crucial theory and gain industry-recognised qualifications from the comfort of their own homes.
Students who enrolled on Access Training’s professional trade courses in plumbing, gas engineering, construction and electrical work were able to access live online classes and interact with experienced tutors in real time, providing a high-quality classroom experience while keeping everybody safe.
This proved to be hugely popular amongst Access Training students, who were able to learn the essential skills needed to become successful in their chosen trades whilst also juggling other personal responsibilities (such as childcare).
STRONG IN-PERSON TEACHING
Access Training Academies also continued to put a huge amount of effort into their in-person teaching. The online classes were supplemented with a strong in-person experience when learning practical skills at the training centre, then finished off with excellent career and employment support after the end of the course.
This three-stage training programme – consisting of online tuition, intensive practical training and career support – is one feature of Access Training that really sets them apart from other training providers. Students who enrol onto one of their accredited training courses are able to take advantage of the vastly experienced tutors that Access Training employ, as well as industry connections and mentoring that enable successful graduates to ready themselves for the workplace and setting up their own businesses.
A HUGE LEAP FORWARD
Thanks to the introduction of their bespoke online platform, Access Training Academies have been able to accommodate a new generation of tradespeople looking to take charge of their lives despite all of the negativity and bad news that we’ve suffered over the past 12 months.
Now that learners have more freedom to go at their own pace, Access Training’s exam pass rates have increased to record levels of around 90%. Positive feedback continues to pour in from learners who love being able to log on and learn wherever they may be.
