Now Create Searchable PDFs with this Intelligent Document Scanner
The app Scanne is a Document Scanner with an intelligent OCR built in which uses Computer Vision for Automatic Edge Detection and Artificial Intelligence for converting Image to Text and creating a PDF out of it, that PDF is searchable and editable. It allows people to Scan their documents in 30+ languages including Sanskrit, German, Greek etc. It supports all major Languages of India and other countries. The app is available for free with a very clean UI.Just like other Document Scanner apps user first has to select the image from Gallery or capture with their Camera, then Scanne automatically cuts the portion of image that contains Document with the help of Machine Learning and Computer Vision, then they can choose to create a Searchable PDF which can be created in 30+ languages. It supports major Indian languages like Bengali, Assamese, English, Hindi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Nepali, Urdu, Telugu, Sanskrit (Can be used for digitizing old textbooks). Scanne uses the same technology like other OCR based apps. But most of the other apps use the one bundled in the device by Google. But in order to support languages like Sanskrit, we just couldn't rely on that. So, we trained our own Neural Network with all these languages while keeping in mind the accuracy and speed. Now this neural network gets the text from the image and tells us at which position of the image the text is located at in the form of (x,y) and then we place that text with zero opacity at that place in the PDF. So, when someone searches in the PDF he gets the text at the exact place.
The app is currently available only for Android. However, We are working on its iOS version which will be out in the fall of 2021. App is available in English, Hindi and Indonesian languages, there is a Dark Mode too. Free version has ads, but they can be removed by paying as little as ₹116($1.6) per month.
