Press release from: Magenta Technology

LONDON, November 2012 – Corporate Solutions Logistics (CSL), a UK-based leading edge provider of managed logistics solutions for transport, warehousing, environmental issues and other key areas of the supply chain, have announced the results of using their CSL Live IT solution implemented approximately two years ago for their 4PL operations. Developed by Magenta Technology (Magenta), CSL Live combines the functionality of a sophisticated scheduling decision-making support tool with that of a collaboration platform that integrates CSL with their network of carriers and customers. The solution has proven to save CSL staff up to 75% of the consignment allocation and management process time, enabled enhanced automated communications with carriers and customers, improved customer service and enabled CSL to deal with increased volumes of jobs from new and existing customers with the same team size.

Magenta worked closely with CSL to develop the CSL Live solution, directly addressing their operational and industry needs. Based on the experience and industry insight gained during the design and development of CSL live, Magenta have created the Haulier Management Solution (HMS) Control Tower (www.magenta-technology.com/solutions/hms_control_tower.html), a comprehensive scheduling, collaboration and decision-making support tool for 3PL and 4PL providers and freight forwarders that is ultimately aimed at helping them manage their margins. In addition to the highly sophisticated supplier ranking engine that allows schedulers to automatically find a best supplier for any customer shipment based on a variety of parameters, HMS Control Tower also provides a clear visual representation of the job locations, routes and vehicles positioning on the map. It also features simple to use and highly efficient tools for tendering and auctioning of shipment jobs which – along with other vital supplier communication aimed facilities – puts HMS Control Tower at the heart of 4-PL and freight forwarders business operations and communications with their network of carriers.

Within CSL Live customer orders are automatically received and allocated by the solution to suppliers using dynamically calculated ratings based on a variety of historic and real-time parameters – from pricing and individual preferences to suppliers’ past performance, quality scores, availability of licenses and carrier capacities dynamically updated by suppliers online. This allows the CSL operational team to concentrate more on working with suppliers, following up on jobs and focusing on what is happening on site - ultimately enabling better customer service levels and helping them reach a 99% rate of on-time deliveries. Automation of the business processes also reduced the pressure of the daily operations and created a better working environment for the CSL team.

Since its deployment the solution has allowed CSL to grow their business considerably without any increase in staff to handle the additional workload and throughput. The product is highly collaborative as customers are provided with visibility throughout the supply chain, operators are able to provide a better service and create larger margins, whilst hauliers are able to select work and business that is most suited to them as well as take advantage of spare capacity and backhaul opportunities.

Investing in CSL Live proved to be an essential step in achieving the business goals defined by Corporate Solutions Logistics at the core of their development strategy. It has become a vital component of the operational infrastructure which has proved to help Corporate Solutions Logistics and has provided a considerable saving in the operational team’s time with:

o 75% reduction of process time in scheduling and communications due to availability of automatic rating and confirmation emails upon allocation of shipments;
o 75% reduction of process time saved on purchase orders processing through automation of the process and availability of sub-contractor portal;
o 25% reduction of time in processing supplier invoices;
o 10% reduction in time saved on overall shipment management and related communications;
o 14% increase in workload with the same size planning team.

Stuart Payne, Logistics Analyst for Corporate Solutions Logistics said, "Implementing CSL Live from Magenta Technology to support CSL's overall business processes proved to be an essential step in our business development strategy. It helped us to bring our relationship with carriers and customers to a new level of quality and efficiency.
