The markilux MX-2 full cassette awning wins design award

Its appearance is minimalistic. Its shape clear and svelte. We're talking about a cassette awning - the MX-2. The new model from manufacturer markilux was rewarded for its understated, elegant look with the "German Design Award" 2022.

Before the MX-2 even hit the streets, the awning already had its first award in the bag: the "German Design Award" 2022. This award has been presented for ten years now by the German Design Council in Frankfurt upon Main. This year the motto was: "How designers think".

Minimalistic design wins
Around 4,500 competitors handed in their product designs in 2021 in 70 categories. The MX-2 stood out in the category "Excellent Product Design - Building and Elements" and was awarded the title of "Winner".

Highlight for modern architecture
It is the awning's clear design language that first strikes you. The slim-line cassette housing is elegantly framed by a metal profile rounded at both ends. The MX-2 embodies pure elegance, skilfully staged as a stylistic highlight on modern architecture. Lighting features and folding arms at the extremities of the frame, offering an unobstructed view of the cover, emphasise the minimalist, refined look. Appropriately, the model will be available in five exquisite anniversary colours in 2022 in addition to the classic standard frame colours because the company is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The MX-2 is thus absolutely perfect for customers who are not only looking for a new awning, but who are interested in having pure design both in their interiors and on the outside walls of their premises.

The German Design Council

Ever since 1953, the German Design Council has been a leading centre of competence that has dedicated itself worldwide to communicating and transferring knowledge of design, brand communication and innovation. By way of international competition, promotion of young talent as well as the acquisition of members and the holding of events, it forms a mainstay of the global design community and contributes to the establishment of exchange forums and networks worldwide. As such, the German Design Council lends the global economy substantial impetus. Its circle of benefactors consists currently of more than 340 companies.
The German Design Award is divided into the segments "Excellent Product Design", "Excellent Communications Design" and "Excellent Architecture". "Gold", "Winner" and "Special Mention" awards are presented in each competition category, of which there are 60.

Gold
This is the highest award. It stands for excellent, holistic and innovative design.

Winner
This recognises outstanding and exemplary design achievements.

Special Mention
This award recognises a consistent design concept, as well as its implementation.
