Wind River Announces Symmetric Multiprocessing Support for Real-Time Operating System VxWorks
Wind River VxWorks platforms and development tools provide solutions for the migration, debugging and optimization of multicore processing systemsWind River announced VxWorks 6.6 with Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP) support will be available on all Wind River VxWorks-based platforms in late 2007. VxWorks 6.6 SMP support for multicore processors will empower developers to exploit the strengths of multicore processors in their products while reducing risk, development effort and cost. Additionally, Wind River will include SMP support capability in its Workbench development suite and Workbench for On-Chip Debugging solutions. Advanced multicore debug and performance tuning will enable customers to quickly identify problems and visualize behavior using a patent-pending multicore debugging technology. VxWorks 6.6 SMP is offered as an optional add-on product for all the VxWorks 6.6-based platforms. VxWorks Platforms 6.6 and the VxWorks 6.6 SMP add-on product will be available in late 2007.
