IANKOVSKYI FOUNDATION AND DOVZHENKO CENTER SUMMED UP THE WORK RESULTS OF UKRAINIAN DELEGATION AT THE BERLINALE
Speakers at the press conference were the Chairman of the Ukrainian State Film Agency, Philip Illienko, director of the Dovzhenko National Center Ivan Kozlenko, founder of the All-Ukrainian Charity Foundation "Initiative for the Future", Igor Iankovskyi and young Ukrainian filmmakers representing our country at the international film festival.
Opening the press conference, Philip Illienko noted the important role of the Igor Iankovskyi Fund in the framework of public-private partnership with the State Cinema. The result of this fruitful collaboration was a success of the Ukrainian cinema-products and young talent at leading international venues, and their active popularization at motherland. He noted the success of talented young people and expressed confidence in their further professional and creative growth.
Commenting the choice of films that be shown in Berlinale, Ivan Kozlenko named the Dziga Vertov’ vanguard motion picture "controversial". He emphasized the need for such re-Ukrainization cinema masterpieces, created in Ukrainian cultural space, but was buried in the archives of the Soviet censorship. In addition, according to Ivan Kozlenko, film made brighter to understanding of the conflict in eastern Ukraine for a foreign audience.
The founder of the Charity Foundation "Initiative for the Future", Igor Iankovskyi, talking about experiences from participating in such a major event like the Berlinale 2016, noted the significant demand for Ukrainian cinema among European audiences. "Ukrainian foreign film watchers movie interesting, but it needs to actively present themselves at film markets. Although Ukraine is a European state and belongs to the European cultural heritage, but, in fact, Ukrainian culture and cinema for the European audience are nothing new. "
While speaking about the plans for the Fund for 2016, he said the improvement of the fund towards a more systemic support Ukrainian cinema. Since the beginning of the year has been increased amount of grants for young directors who were invited to take part in international film festivals. Also, Igor Iankovskyi recalled initiated in November 2015 positive social competition of short films "Ukraine: The Road to Peace", whose goal is to encourage young filmmakers to express their Ukrainian citizenship. The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Nikon Romanchenko young director added that for now the jury has received nearly 60 works Ukrainian filmmakers.
Summing up the activities of the delegation of Ukraine at the Berlinale, the young filmmakers Nariman Aliyev and Maxim Serdyuk, films involving competition program and winners of national festivals Nikon Romanchenko and Kate Hornostay thanked Igor Iankovskyi Foundation for their support and shared their impressions of the trip. Also, a speech and spoke of a report by Valery Sochivets, which together with the young director Philip Sotnichenko, received from the Fund Igor Iankovskyi – travel-grant to participate in the world's largest short film festival in Clermont-Ferrand (France). All young filmmakers agreed that representatives of national cinematography important part in the activities of international scope, because it - like a breath of fresh air for Ukrainian artists, an opportunity not only to get acquainted with modern trends in the film industry, but also exchange experience with colleagues from around the world.
"Initiative for the Future" – is Ukrainian Charitable Foundation, founded by Igor Iankovskyi - a successful Ukrainian businessman, financier and philanthropist.
Charities unite like-minded people in a common goal - to develop and implement educational and cultural programs in Ukraine. Activities of the organization based on voluntary initiatives.
