Introducing Exciting New Features and Enhancements in TURBOdesign 2024.1 Release by ADT
Advanced Design Technology, Ltd. (ADT), a leading turbomachinery design software company, announces the release of its latest software version, TURBOdesign Suite 2024.1, which includes a range of new features and enhancements aimed at improving the efficiency and automation of the turbomachinery design process. The recent update incorporates the following significant features:
1. New Manufacturing modification function including flow and radial trimming
2. Heat pump cycle and fast lookup algorithm for Real Gas Properties
3. Extension of CAE integration with Siemens CCM+ and Ansys CFX to new applications.
A notable feature of the new release is a new manufacturing modification feature that can enable flow trimming and radial trimming. The flow trimming function uses the flow algorithm to predict the exact location of meridional geometry trim for a given flow reduction requirement.
Another notable feature is the considerable speed up of the RGP file look up table algorithm used in TURBOdesign Pre, TURBOdesign1 and TURBOdesign Volute. The RGP look up table enables TURBOdesign Suite to be run for any type of real gas available in NIST REFPROP.
TURBOdesign Pre has a new heat pump cycle code. This can read basic input requirements for the heat pump such as condenser and evaporator temperature and whether these is an economiser or not and then by coupling it with the centrifugal compressor meanline code can provide a solution for the compressor stage for any working real gas substance.
Additionally, the CAE integration function (which enables automatic running of any design in TURBOdesign1 in Siemens CCM+ and Ansys CFX and post processing of the data) is extended to calculate speed lines for centrifugal compressors as well as axial fans with or without big inblock/outblock domains.
Improvements have also been made to the automatic machine learning range estimation system for optimization.
TURBOdesign Volute now provides more detailed control for overhung volutes and supports twin-entry turbine volute applications.
Finally, all modules within the TURBOdesign Suite can be conveniently opened from Windows by simply clicking on the associated files.
"High temperature heat pumps are playing a major role in decarbonisation of many industrial processes. The new cycle code for heat pump coupled with significant improvements in real gas algorithms used in TURBOdesign Suite , together with unique multi-point optimization capability and the direct set up of CFD cases for Ansys CFX and Siemens CCM+ should streamline the process of design optimization of high temperature heat pumps", said Professor Mehrdad Zangeneh, Founder and Managing Director of Advanced Design Technology Ltd.
