COSCOM - Tool MES for controlled provisioning process

COSCOM WEB apps for location-independent information provision and digital process control. (© COSCOM Computer GmbH)
The COSCOM tool management solution positions itself with digital control of the provisioning processes in the systematic gap of a classic MES system. The software company's many years of project experience show that the technology available today and the digital competence of the employees are available to such an extent that the resource provisioning process, which has received little attention to date, can also be tackled in the area of digitalization. Process monitoring using MES key figures (e.g. OEE), which is often already in use, proves that the timely and correct provision of operating resources has great potential for increasing efficiency in the production process.
As the provision of operating resources, i.e. tools, clamping and measuring equipment, runs across several work areas in a company and usually requires several resources to be involved, the experience of the COSCOM experts shows that the provision of operating resources requires its own provision order. Within the COSCOM tool management system, this sub-order is reported to the actual production order from production planning. In this way, potential delays to a planned production start can be identified in good time and appropriate measures initiated.
In addition to order tracking, the individualization of the required tools is also gaining in importance. During the provisioning process, the cutting tools assembled into a complete tool receive individual data from the tool presetting (actual dimensions) and are assigned material-dependent tool life (or remaining tool life). This is important data that is necessary for smooth order processing on the machine. Highly automated manufacturing companies work with RFID technologies (RFID chips with data storage on the tool) for tool customization. However, the COSCOM solution also offers smart APPs to centrally store or retrieve individual information. This makes this data more visible, employees can access this information from any location and the identification of tools in the production environment is significantly simplified.
With these operational process modules in a classic tool management system, COSCOM achieves the status of a tool MES system: from detailed tool deployment planning with availability checks, tool data acquisition and tool provision, through to communication with the ERP and automation level.

Raising the data treasure: COSCOM ECO-System platform takes legacy data to a new …
Many manufacturing companies have a wealth of data that has been built up over the years - particularly in the area of tool management. In practice, however, the potential of this legacy data often remains untapped because it lies dormant in isolated solutions, is inconsistent or is difficult to access. With its ECO platform, COSCOM, the digitalization specialist for the store floor, offers a powerful solution for consolidating and processing…

Leading position of tool management in digitized machining with COSCOM
Tool data management, previously often referred to simply as a "tool database", has long since evolved from a pure management tool for tool master data to a strategic enabler of digital CNC manufacturing. In traditional solutions, the focus was usually on providing data for CAD/CAM systems, simulations or simple warehouse management. However, the challenges of digitalization and automation in the production environment are more complex today - and the requirements…

COSCOM software platform lays the foundations for AI and machine learning
