Step in Natural Remedies' World of Phytogenics

Step in Natural Remedies' World of Phytogenics

The term phytogenic has been in trend for a long time. The demand for phytogenics is increasing as an alternative to antibiotic growth promoters. Phytogenics also known as phytogenic feed additives (PFAs) or bioactives or botanicals drastically improve body weight, FCR in broilers, milk production, stress management, etc. among animals without imposing any threats to their body.

At Natural Remedies, the process to formulating phytogenic solutions for intended species is diverse. For us, formulating a product and releasing it to the market takes two to three years.

The process begins when the Research and Development team receives a proposal from the Sales and Marketing team, shaped by an in-depth understanding of customer needs. The research team then develops a hypothesis, which is followed by a thorough evaluation of the plants' feasibility and their potential biological impacts. This detailed screening phase usually spans 6-7 months.

We start by developing prototypes and creating mathematical models to integrate these prototypes for testing and pre-clinical trials. Initially, we conduct trials on rodent models to assess safety and efficacy. Once these prototypes pass this stage, they are moved to a larger research facility, where controlled trials are conducted on the intended species. After establishing efficacy at this facility, the prototypes are advanced to the firm level, where we collaborate with our customers to further validate and extend our results. Following successful and promising outcomes, we proceed with test marketing before launching the final product.
In the meantime, we also concentrate on other key areas, including:
Conducting both long-term and short-term stability studies
Developing detailed product specifications
Formulating strategies to scale up our products for market readiness
For maintaining the quality we base ourselves on our four pillars:

1. Identity
2. Consistency
3. Safety
4. Efficacy

Identity: At the field level, we examine the microscopic characteristics, such as the plant's appearance, using reference materials. In the lab, we employ macroscopic techniques like chromatography fingerprinting to analyze the product. These steps allow us to accurately identify our material.

Consistency: We check the chromatography fingerprinting in batches and we ensure the consistency of the product.

Efficacy: To assess efficacy, we measure the levels of active compounds associated with biological activity. We analyze the key principles of these active products.

Safety: For safety, we test the product for undesirable substances, including heavy metals, mycotoxins, pesticide residues, and microbes.

By running these tests we ensure identity, consistency, efficacy, and safety.
