One Nation, One Peace: An Interfaith Service And Call For Unity And Nonviolence

Camden, NJ - International Stop the Violence Alliance, Inc. and the International Torch for Peace Foundation will host One Nation, One Peace: An Interfaith Service Unifying through Nonviolence and Building Communities of Trust , an international program designed to unite global leaders in a collective call for peace and nonviolence. Set for February 8th, 2025 at Washington National Cathedral, the program will feature renowned speakers, peace advocates, community leaders, and clergy who will explore how nations and communities can come together in pursuit of a more peaceful world.

This groundbreaking event will serve as a platform to address pressing global challenges through community resolve and building trust. The program aims to foster dialogue and collaboration among diverse groups, creating a shared vision for global unity and nonviolence. The Torch for Peace will be illuminated as a symbol for international peace.

A Call for Global Unity

One Nation, One Peace highlights the significance of global unity. Amid international challenges, the event provides a platform for leaders and communities to explore peace initiatives together. It will emphasize diplomacy, cooperation, and local community engagement to address global issues. There will be members of different countries, faiths, and backgrounds. All are welcome. Members of various social organizations, unions, fraternities, sororities, and the National Panhellenic Council will be present.

Angela Webb, current President and first African American President of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement; Colonel Geoff Noble, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police; Chief Pam Smith, DC Metropolitan Police; and Dr. Stephne R. Coney, all will speak on the importance of collaboration in fostering peaceful coexistence.These leaders will share their experiences in promoting peace through diplomacy and the importance of human rights, conflict resolution, and social justice.

Other special guests include Samuel Auxier, President of the US Figure Skating and Ann Buckley, President of the Skating Club of Boston. U.S. Figure Skating is the national governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States. The Skating Club of Boston lost six individuals in the January 29, 2025 plane crash in Washington, DC.

Program Highlights

The event will feature a variety of speeches and musical performances aimed at engaging attendees in the peacebuilding process.

Moments of reflection and prayer will allow attendees to come together in solidarity and make a collective pledge for peace. The historic Washington National Cathedral, known for its role as a center of prayer and reflection, will provide a fitting backdrop for this moment of unity and commitment to a better future. Following the event, there will be a candlelight ceremony in honor of those who have been lost to violence, including the victims and families in New Orleans, Louisiana, victims of terrorist attacks, public safety officials, in memory of those lost during the LA Fires and other natural disasters, and the victims of the DC plane crash.

Special performances by the Clark Atlanta University Philharmonic Society and Friends directed by Ms. Garnetta Penn, Music Director, Clark Atlanta University; Chardi Kala Jatha, a Sikh musical group; and Dr. E. Diane Lyle-Smith, who will be performing Miles Davis' "All Blues" accompanied by Dr. Greg McPherson on piano.
