FEATool Multiphysics version 1.17.4 Update

FEATool Multiphysics version 1.17.4 Update

Precise Simulation, is proud to announce the release of FEATool Multiphysics version 1.17.4 (https://www.featool.com), bringing a suite of significant improvements and new features designed to enhance simulation efficiency and productivity for engineers and researchers.

These advancements in FEATool Multiphysics v1.17.4 underscore Precise Simulation's commitment to providing cutting-edge simulation tools that empower users across diverse industries to achieve more accurate, efficient, and productive results.

* Built-in support for tabulated/interpolated coefficients and data

The latest update introduces built-in support for tabulated and interpolated coefficient data, allowing users to directly import and use data from various formats, including common CSV and Microsoft Excel® file formats. This new functionality eliminates the need for users to define custom functions, and simplifies integrating experimental and external data into complex multiphysics simulations (https://www.featool.com/multiphysics).

* Updated CAD and 3D geometry engine

Furthermore, the built-in CAD engine has been updated to use the latest and best open source 3D geometry engine OpenCASCADE® version 7.9.1. Using the latest kernel improves both performance and reliability, and allows for more intuitive 3D model creation.

* Improved OpenFOAM® and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) features

For computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, the update offers enhanced flow mode control with an automatic pressure constraint toggle. Moreover, improved error handling for external CFD solvers like OpenFOAM® and SU2 now allows users to save case and configuration files on error, facilitating easier and improved simulation troubleshooting.

The SU2 Code CFD solver has also been updated to default to the V2003m SST turbulence model. This standardization ensures a robust and widely validated turbulence model is used by default, contributing to more accurate and reliable turbulent flow simulations.

Based on extensive testing and user feedback, FEATool Multiphysics now recommends the use of the (openfoam.com) distribution from ESI/OpenCFD® for improved compatibility and performance.

* Available Now

In conjunction with this update, the sister toolbox, CFDTool, has also been updated to version 1.10.4, featuring a streamlined user interface that mirrors FEATool Multiphysics for seamless transitions between the two platforms.

These updates underscore Precise Simulation's dedication to continuously improving the FEATool Multiphysics experience, making advanced CFD analysis more accessible and efficient. By addressing common user challenges and optimizing solver integrations, FEATool Multiphysics empowers engineers to tackle a broader range of complex simulation problems with confidence.
