Bioplastics of the future: Golden Compound relies on bio-PBS

With its GC green material line, Golden Compound is launching an innovative solution for the growing demand for sustainable plastic alternatives. The biocompounds are based on bio-PBS (polybutylene succinate) and contain mineral fillers, wood fibers or even sunflower seed husks as a natural filler - a by-product of the food industry that has hardly been used to date.

Bio-PBS: bio-based, degradable, efficient
Bio-PBS is considered one of the most promising bioplastics of the next generation. It combines high thermal resistance (over 90 °C), good mechanical properties and reliable processability in injection molding, thermoforming or extrusion.

"Our customers receive a biodegradable material that is on a par with conventional plastics in many applications - but with a clear sustainability advantage," says Donner, Marketing Manager at Golden Compound.

Naturally reinforced with sunflower seed husks
A special feature of GC green materials is the use of sunflower seed shells. These are a waste product from food processing and are recycled at Golden Compound. The fibers improve the carbon footprint, reduce the plastic content and give the products a natural look and feel.

Pioneering applications
GC green materials are used in various areas: from plant pots and compostable packaging to home-compostable coffee capsules and technical household products. Depending on the formulation, the compounds are biodegradable or recyclable in closed cycles.

Expandable up to 100% bio-based
The materials are already largely based on renewable raw materials. Variants with almost 100% bio-based PBS are available on request - an environmentally friendly alternative with outstanding performance.
