From 1st May Zell am See-Kaprun celebrates its annual spring festival on Kitzsteinhorn

Hot samba rhythms in perpetual ice: this year again Zell am See and Kaprun are welcoming spring with a lot of dance and music in a cheerful mood. Just in time for the beginning of the merry month of May, the traditional 'Firn & Fun' happening is kicking off! As usual, the venue of the spring festival is the pristine white glacier of Kitzsteinhorn.

But snow alone would definitely not be enough. For this reason, the visitors of the 'Firn & Fun' event can be looking forward to more than just the many kilometres of perfect pistes on the local mountain of Kaprun: the programme boasts lots of enjoyable highlights. On Thursday, 1st May, the starting gun is fired: hot Latin rhythms of 'De La Rosa' and sexy Brazilian dancers make sure that the long weekend gains momentum right from the start. And at the Alpincenter on Kitzsteinhorn DJ Gari Stu is sure to get his audience going as well. He'll put the very best of his discs on the turntables. The start-up of the 'Firn & Fun' happening - a true delight for your ears and eyes!

Delights for the palate, however, will be served by Alexander Fankhauser. The TV stars cook who has received the award 'Cook of the Year 2005' by the travel guide Gault Millau is visiting the restaurant Gletschermühle on Saturday 3rd May. There, he'll pamper his guests with exquisite creations from the international cuisine - after all, it is no coincidence that he is one of Austria's best chefs. The dinner for gourmets with a view at the picturesque Alpine panorama marks the perfect ending of a unique day.

On Saturday visitors can enjoy shiatsu massages and relax at the 'Piz Buin Massage Drive-In' right off the pistes. This also holds true for Friday, 2nd May, when masseurs are offering to treat sore muscles and thus guarantee a relaxed mood. After a reviving cure like that, the testing session of the new ski and board models for the winter season of 2008/2009 cannot be long enough. Manufacturers like Atomic, Rossingol, Völkl, Head and many more are putting their products on display.

Rough times are waiting for the boards of the participants of the slope style contest 'Ride 'n' Roll' in the Roxy Glacier Park. On Saturday at 9 a.m. the athletes are beginning their training and the presentation ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. - a real highlight not only for the protagonists. And who knows? Maybe the world cup stars Michael Walchhofer, Mario Fuchs, Georg Streitberger, and Marcel Hirscher are in the audience as well. They have already announced their coming for the 'Firn & Fun' happening and are going to sign autographs for their fans at the Alpincenter.

The spring festival on Kitzsteinhorn is ending just like it began. DJ Gari Stu will raise the roof once again on Sunday 4th May - the perfect final after musical highlights like the live concerts of 'T-NG' on Friday and 'Common Men' on Saturday.

The holiday region of Zell am See-Kaprun with its 14,000 beds and two million overnight stays per year is one of the most important holiday destinations in Austria. The beautiful flora and fauna in the Alpine panorama and Lake Zell guarantee relaxation and well-being. Golfing, hiking, and bathing are at the focus for the summer time programme, but visitors can choose from more than 40 other activities as well. Tourism experts are looking forward to the 'castlecamp' at Kaprun from 13th Sept …
It is general practice among the visitors of a 'barcamp' to take home a sticker once the 'unconference' has finished. That way, the participants want to say, 'I was in on that.' The idea is not really new. For decades, travellers have collected that kind of souvenirs of their holiday destinations and stuck them to their suitcases. It's the 'barcamps' themselves that are new. They have only been organized for
Zell am See-Kaprun invite to an 'unconference' at the castle
Anyone who has ever been in the audience of a large conference, congress, or seminar, maybe even for several days in a row, knows that phenomenon only too well: there are set schedules to be followed, hours of talks and lots of useless information to be listened to. And the only topic you are really interested in is usually placed right at the bottom of the agenda. By the time
