?DP petition "Against the role backwards"

People instead of government determine climate protection policy

(W?rzburg) - ?DP puts citizens back in charge and strengthens democracy. Enough is enough! The Ecological Democratic Party (?DP - Die Naturschutzpartei) wants to finally provide a clear alternative to the haphazard and incompetent climate protection policy of the Merz government with its petition against the "role backwards" adopted at the federal party conference at the weekend.

"Put an end to the zigzag course," emphasizes G?nther Brendle-Behnisch as party leader: "We are finally offering the citizens orientation instead of this daily game of switching between a fossil-free future and a relapse into climate-destructive variants of political will-o'-the-wisps. Because that is not politics for the people. This is toddler wrestling."

The ?DP prefers to counter this irrational "snap-breathing politics", which today says "giddy-up" - tomorrow "hot", with real decisions. With its petition, it offers all people who take climate protection seriously the chance to actively shape change themselves. "Everyone can have a say in how we tackle the climate catastrophe with their own signature," says Brendle-Behnisch. The ?DP is setting the bar high: it has set a community target of one million signatures. "All these people will express their displeasure at the government's misguided policies and point the way forward," says Kirsten Elisabeth J?kel, deputy party chairwoman: "With the petition, they are making it clear that climate protection is not an option, but a duty."

"The government can no longer ignore so many statements and must finally put an end to its maneuvering." The ?DP has proven several times that it can take action. The party has already changed the political landscape in Germany several times as an extra-parliamentary opposition. The nature conservation party draws the courage for its new petition, among other things, from the success it has achieved together with many organizations for the protection of bees. It has already collected 1.7 million signatures for better species protection. Now, too, the ?DP wants to show the government - together with as many citizens and other associations and organizations as possible - that it should listen to the people in the country. "Only then will politics work," Brendle-Behnisch is convinced: "It should set the course and take responsibility, but not chase after the particular interests of individual economic sectors."

With the ?DP petition "Against the role backwards", people can decide for themselves again. "We are leading the way," says Brendle-Behnisch, "and we hope that as many people in the country as possible will join us."
