The consultancy-led publishing house, Echelon Learning, has appointed Alistair Morrison as its CEO.This means that David Hill, who has headed up Echelon Learning since its inception in 1986, becomes the company’s Chairman, while retaining the role of Services Director to support key clients. Jenny Hill continues to lead the company’s consultancy division.
David Hill commented: “Alistair Morrison has a long association with Echelon, having previously served as a non-executive director of the company.
“His advice and guidance have proved to be highly valuable to Echelon in the past and so we are delighted that he is now devoting even more of his unbounded energies and business acumen to further our cause and help us achieve our business goals. His experience in the areas of business consultancy, employee communications and e-learning are exactly what is required to lead Echelon as we continue to develop and expand.”
Morrison, who joined Echelon from The Fifth Business - an internal communications and e-learning company working principally in the oil and gas industries – previously ran his own business consultancy company, Strathmore Business Consulting, with clients that included HSBC and Lorien plc. Before that, he was an operational board director at defence and space specialists Vega plc.
Prior to joining Vega, Morrison was founder and managing director of learning content producer Skillchange Systems - one of the early leaders and innovators in the UK’s e-learning market. More recently, he has served as a non-executive director with web development company Netcel, LMS vendor Cobent, and design consultancy Juice.
“I’m delighted to have joined Echelon,” Morrison said.
”This is a company with a great track record and a fantastic client base. Moreover, it has a reputation for high quality deliverables that make a real impact with its clients.
“At a time when research is indicating that organisations are more profitable when their employees are fully engaged with their employer’s vision and strategy, there has never been a greater need for companies such as Echelon Learning. Our core business is the implementation of communications and learning solutions that motivate and develop staff to deliver their companies’ brand and customer service promises.
“We have solid consulting expertise and full multimedia development capabilities that enable us to create a comprehensive range of solutions, from entire internal communications strategies to project-based campaigns and individual education and training interventions.
“Our bespoke solutions are supported by our comprehensive library of over 2,000 modules of on-line learning. We are fully equipped to support clients manage the human element of major change initiatives and to drive improvements to business-as-usual performance,” Morrison added.
Morrison will be making his industry contacts and considerable financial and marketing experience available to Echelon Learning as it pursues a strategy of not only expanding its core business of learning and consultancy services but also diversifies into servicing other learning-related markets.

About Echelon Learning Ltd
Echelon Learning is a consultancy-led publishing house that integrates electronically-delivered knowledge and learning into the development of management skills and business performance.
Echelon Consulting spearheads the company’s service with the development of new content in meeting clients’ requirements. This is usually derived from analysing employee knowledge and learning needs captured during client learning programmes.
Where appropriate, Echelon Publishing offers this new content to a wider audience by publishing the material in generic format. This is made available in the form of easy to use ‘learning nuggets’ and is complimented with business development information licensed exclusively from one of the market’s best-known providers, Bloomsbury.
Echelon e-Learning provides the electronic systems which enable content to be published, distributed and usage tracked, and offers work-based solutions to a global audience. Echelon’s blended learning, based on a bespoke site populated with material selected to support specific courses, builds knowledge prior to the event and refreshes application when back at the desk.
Echelon technologies help organisations place solutions at people’s fingertips, whether solving everyday business and work-related problems or helping gain qualifications and continued professional development.
Echelon:
• Has a content management system enabling informational or learning material to be developed or converted into XML so that it can be published and distributed in text and/or via the web.
• Has a learning management system to provide ready access via the web to highly structured information, which is easily searched and retrieved, and whose usage can be tracked and learning logged.
• Publishes and/or reformats content for professional bodies and commercial organisations to help students and employees maintain or develop requisite skills throughout their careers.
• Supports people from the outset of their careers in working with professional bodies to develop and deliver the learning content required by students in preparing for examination.
• Frees up the knowledge and learning contained within a business so that people have ready access to these resources in helping them to solve problems or develop their careers.
• Works with a number of blue chip organisations and professional bodies.
