Kick off for the european wide schools project "Eleonore Digital::Work Together"

Supporting the youth is one of the most fundamental challenges our society has to face to guarantee social and economic wealth for the future. To prepare the youth for the coming demands of the working market, there is much more required than a good formal education. Additional competences in the fields of economy, technology or in social issues are becoming increasingly relevant. Acquiring such skills is very often interconnected with high costs and efforts. But there is an other way enabled by the innovations of information and communication technology.

"Eleonore Digital::Work Together" has an interdisciplinary focus on the promotion of ICT skills, creativity, media pedagogy and european history. The main target group are students aged between 14 and 19 as well as teachers from all kinds of secondary schools. It is the main goal that students in collaboration with experts in game development create a 3D learning software about one of the most fascinating women in medieval Europe.
Besides the project also contributes to innovation in education by establishing e-learning as a fundamental method of tuition for the future, the creation of valuable e-content for educational purposes and enhancing the use of open source solutions in education..

But “Eleonore Digital::Work Together” gives not only the chance to acquire ICT skills for free, it also supports cultural exchange and social networking among young people from all over Europe. To realize such a virtual networking between students from all over Europe we provide facilities on our platform www.eleonore-digital.org for students and teachers. Students can present their school or just a specific class project on this platform. Further on participants can become acquainted with others, share experiences or use the communication tools for improving their language skills. The participation on the platform with all the mentioned opportunities is free for everybody and without any further obligations in the project “Eleonore Digital::Work Together”.

This school year starts the testrun where schools form Austria, Czech Republik, Estonia, England and Serbia participate.
There is still the chance for school to participate in the school year 2009/10!

The friendly society P-O-S-T was founded 2007, stands for the promotion of open source solutions in education and initiates educational projects.
The pedagogic focus of the projects lies in the methodological and didactic approach to the processes of content knowledge accumulation. Participants will develop their critical faculty for media literacy and understanding of gender mainstreaming. A further dividend is the acquisition of skills in the fields of graphic and 3D design, as well as project management and communications. IT Experts as well as teachers take part in the implementation of the projects.
