LeaseWeb to develop hosting market in Eastern Europe
Emily Sampson, 30, joins Business Development TeamAMSTERDAM, December 17, 2008 – LeaseWeb (leaseweb.com), the Netherlands’ largest corporate hosting provider, is expanding its Eastern Europe Business Development Team to include business developer Emily Sampson, 30. She’s from England and previously held a similar position at Microsoft in Munich. This change is in line with LeaseWeb’s plans to increase its market share in Eastern Europe.
Hosting Russia, Poland and Turkey
Eastern Europe is a major market for hosting provider LeaseWeb. LeaseWeb’s appeal in these countries with emerging markets has an obvious reason. “Internet connections in Eastern Europe are still not comparable to those in Amsterdam,” says Con Zwinkels, LeaseWeb’s managing director. “Connections in Amsterdam are faster and more stable. In addition, our hosting network, with its capacity of 500 Gigabits per second, is attractive to those countries.”
Dedicated servers: 15,000+
LeaseWeb currently manages more than 15,000 dedicated servers in four different datacenters. Approximately 70 percent of the dedicated servers are used by clients in foreign countries, including Eastern Europe. These countries include Poland, Russia, Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, but also Turkey. “Creating hosting business in several of those countries – that’s what I did at Microsoft in Munich,” says Emily Sampson. “For example, by developing hosting bundles, looking for specific offers, and finding partners to work with. I see lots of synergy with the work at LeaseWeb. My responsibilities at LeaseWeb will be similar to what I was doing before.”
Emily Sampson, 30
Sampson chose LeaseWeb because of the international work environment and the dynamics of this relatively young organization. “The Microsoft Central and Eastern European Headquarters is a great place to be and Microsoft is a fantastic company to work for,” says Sampson, “but at my age, I think it’s great to be at the foot of a worldwide expansion. I’m 30 years old and together with LeaseWeb, I can still conquer the market.”
Due to the strong internationalization of LeaseWeb’s client and personnel database, the company recently made English its official language. LeaseWeb now has employees from the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Greece, Belgium and Poland, among other countries. “The people at LeaseWeb are all young and enthusiastic, and from different cultural backgrounds,” says Sampson. “That’s what I find so interesting. I’m also very excited about LeaseWeb’s huge investments in the latest technologies. This is going to help us change the future.”
International work environment
Emily Sampson has also lived in Barcelona, as well as having had an apartment near the city centre in Munich. After joining LeaseWeb, she decided to find a place to live in the popular De Pijp district in the heart of Amsterdam. “Amsterdam is a cosmopolitan city. It’s great fun. The canals with the little boats, the many terraces in the summertime… My former colleagues at Microsoft gave me a museum pass as a leaving present, so I’m definitely going to visit the Van Gogh Museum and the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum to admire the paintings by Rembrandt.”
