Press release from: LeaseWeb

/ PR Agency: KINXX

AMSTERDAM, 16 January 2009 – LeaseWeb, an international supplier of hosting solutions, and HP have entered into a strategic partnership whose activities will include Green IT. The partnership is focusing amongst other things on supplying HP solutions which will reduce the energy consumption within the hosting infrastructure.

Within the partnership LeaseWeb will offer a variety of products and services. These will include HP ProLiant Servers DL120 and DL180, a ‘Scalable Configurable Infrastructure’ server custom-made for LeaseWeb, Factory Express services for configured and cabled racks and remote management, and virtual KVM switches via iLO (remote IP management).
One of the key reasons for opting for HP is that the activities and products of HP’s solutions with regard to energy-efficiency are compatible with LeaseWeb’s vision and with LeaseWeb’s green proposition via the energy-efficient data center EvoSwitch.

Green hosting
Energy-efficiency in the data center is a key aspect for LeaseWeb and HP was chosen partly because of this. “HP has a broad portfolio of innovative products and technologies which enable companies to optimize their data centers and so contribute to improving the environment, says Ruud Mous, Sales Director of LeaseWeb: “HP has invested considerably in green technology and the development of energy-efficient servers. That makes HP the ideal partner for us.”
LeaseWeb, as a hosting provider, manages more than 15,000 servers in four different data centers, including the CO2 neutral and energy-efficient EvoSwitch data center.

Hosting cost
“LeaseWeb is a major player in the hosting market and like HP wants to reduce energy consumption. We are therefore very pleased with this partnership, because partners such as LeaseWeb are essential for the success of HP and for creating energy-efficient and environment-friendly hosting platforms,” says Laurent Pacqué, Business Unit Manager Industry Standard Servers, HP Nederland. “By viewing the IT platform from an environmentally conscious standpoint, companies can reduce their energy consumption, and also realize more hardware per square meter. They hence not only contribute to improving the environment but also reduce their costs.”
