The department, which serves Madison, Wisconsin, works with patients, medical students, residents, faculty, doctors, and also conducts research into orthopedics. Its computer systems, which include 150 Windows users, 8 physical servers and 31 virtual servers, are used for email, document storage, research storage and processing of research information, teaching presentations, grant papers and publishing of grant papers. Various X-ray processing packages and research and statistical applications are also widely in use.
