Shopify Plus and Microsoft Dynamics NAV Integration Enables Slendertone to Cuts Costs

Slendertone, a private Irish company with over 50 years’ experience in the research, design, manufacture and marketing of medical grade products, including EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) body toning technology, has cut costs and improved productivity by using Codeless Platforms’ BPA Platform to integrate Shopify Plus and Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

Based in Galway in the West of Ireland, Slendertone took the decision to migrate from Magento to Shopify. It then needed a solution that could integrate Shopify Plus with its ERP system, as well as automate its order processing.

“The critical part of this migration was how were we going to integrate our orders from Shopify to our ERP system, because the ERP system is responsible for the operations for all our B2C orders and the financial aspects of those orders. We therefore decided we needed a business automation tool that could help us integrate Shopify Plus and Microsoft Dynamics NAV. After some research, we discovered Codeless Platforms and its BPA Platform,” explained Mansoor Ahmad, IT Consultant, Slendertone.
Prior to using BPA Platform, Slendertone had to manually intervene with a number of business processes on a daily basis. During the busiest times of year, this often put a great deal of pressure on its customer care and operations teams.

“BPA Platform has now automated all of those processes, removing a great deal of stress from those teams and enabling us to cut costs. We have been using BPA Platform for almost a year and we haven’t had any issues at all. Orders are flowing perfectly fine. It is very trustworthy,” enthused Mansoor Ahmad.

“The thing we like about BPA Platform is its flexibility and ease of use. You don’t have to be too technical in order to use the tool. I received two training sessions from Codeless Platforms and after that we did everything ourselves. It was very straightforward. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting that because it was a major integration between two systems. If you want to do business process automation, I think BPA Platform is the best tool to use.”

Slendertone has several online stores, supporting its eCommerce business in the UK, Europe and North America. BPA Platform is now automating the management of all its high-volume web orders from these stores into Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

“B2C orders are a sizeable and growing part of our business. All that data is transferred seamlessly between systems by BPA Platform. We are actually using BPA Platform for two-way data flow and that is working perfectly fine. For example, the shipping data from our warehouse is flowing from our ERP to the BPA Platform to Shopify Plus. That's a very important part of the business for our web orders,” said Mansoor Ahmad.

“If we had to manually manage the high volume of daily orders, operationally we would need a lot of human interaction. That would cost too much in human resources to handle. It's not just downloading the orders from Shopify Plus to Dynamics NAV, it's pushing the data back as well because we have to fulfil those orders; getting information back from the warehouse. Automating this process with BPA Platform therefore saves us a lot of human intervention.”

Following the success of the Shopify Plus and Microsoft Dynamics NAV integration project, Slendertone is now looking at how it can exploit BPA Platform’s potential in the future.

“We are planning on using BPA Platform to integrate other business systems with Microsoft Dynamics NAV. We are currently trialling Zendesk as our customer care system, and we have Clear View for our marketing and targeted notifications. BPA Platform can play an important role in integrating all the data from these systems together in one place and then exposing that data to our ERP system. That will be very useful,” concluded Mansoor Ahmad.
