Duke University Health Teams with Premise to Improve Patient Flow

In an effort to better serve the growing Research Triangle community’s medical needs, Duke selects Premise’s Patient Flow Platform to streamline efficiency, increase capacity and improve quality of care
Duke has initiated several strategic programs to address the increasing medical needs of the rapidly growing population throughout the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill region; in particular, it recognized the need for a multi-faceted technology solution to help improve patient flow across its facilities. The Premise Patient Flow Platform encompasses bed management, bed-turnover, transport, and performance reporting, facilitating optimal flow from arrival to discharge through bed turnover. Premise clients have reduced phone time related to patient placement by 70%, and have shaved more than six hours off of bed turnover time. Premise enables sustained improvements, including reduced delays, automated communications and workflow, and increased transparency across all locations and departments.
“Large multi-location hospitals can greatly enhance both timeliness and quality of care by replacing manual, fragmented processes with a comprehensive platform that proactively manages the patient flow process from arrival to discharge,” stated Premise chairman and CEO Eric Rosow. “By partnering with Premise, Duke University Health System can more effectively care for the Research Triangle community while enabling clinicians to spend more time doing what they do best – caring for patients.”
Duke selected Premise after reviewing the leading providers of patient flow solutions. “We believe Premise has both the vision as well as the proven technology to help us realize our goals,” said Kevin Sowers, RN, MSN, chief operating officer for Duke University Hospital. “After an exhaustive evaluation of the other players in the market, as well as extensive site-visits with several academic and multi-facility health systems already benefiting from Premise, the choice became very clear. Premise share’s Duke’s passion for improving healthcare quality.”
