Press release from: Eagle's Trace retirement community

HOUSTON, TX—Eagle’s Trace, an Erickson Living retirement community, announced the hiring of Philip Shockley as its new Associate Executive Director and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.

Mr. Shockley comes to Eagle’s Trace from Brooksby Village, a sister Erickson Living community located in Peabody, Massachusetts, where he held the position of Administrator of Extended Care at Renaissance Gardens since February 2009.

Previously, Mr. Shockley served as an Administrator in Training from November 2007 through January 2009, when he received his Massachusetts Nursing Home Administrators license.

Prior to his transfer to Brooksby, he worked for the Information Technology Department of Erickson Living starting in 2004. He began as a Systems Analyst and advanced to Project Manager. His work focused on expanding the utilization of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system within Renaissance Gardens.

His specific responsibilities at Eagle’s Trace will focus on the coordination of the extended care neighborhood, which will be comprised of 96 units offering assisted living, memory care, short-term rehabilitation and long-term nursing care services to residents.

Additionally, he will assist Kevin Knopf, the Executive Director of Eagle’s Trace, in co-managing leadership responsibility of the resident life and health services functions and work with the medical center.

“Having Phil join our executive leadership team adds a tremendous resource to an already strong group, gives us greater flexibility to serve our residents and positions us well for future growth,” said Mr. Knopf. “As we prepare for groundbreaking of our extended care neighborhood later in the year, Phil’s experience and accomplishments as administrator at our sister community will be invaluable.”

Mr. Shockley holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He earned his Master’s Degree in Public Policy from his alma mater in December 2009.
